Thanks for contacting us. For developing you’ll need VS2005 or VS2008 in case that you are writing code for Morphic, Merlin or Medea and before you start, you must install the appropriate SDK:

Here’s my quick guide how to do and deploy an empty C# Windows CE application for the above-mentioned devices:

Create a smart device project. Open Visual Studio 2008. On the File menu, select New->Project. In the Project Types pane on the left, expand Visual C# and select Smart Device. In the Templates pane on the right, select Smart Device Project and click OK. When the Add New Smart Device Project wizard pops up, select the Windows CE for Target platform, .NET CF Version 3.5 and Device Application from Templates. Click OK.

From the drop-down list, select a device “Medea SDK ARMV7 Device” to deploy and add a little functionality.

Build and deploy your application. To run your application on a Windows CE device, make sure it is connected to the desktop. Press the F5 key and your application should be up and running.
